  1. Thank you for sharing your heart this morning! Sometimes we just need to be reminded of our Lord’s presence. The clouds sometimes cover our eyes and cloud our hearts and it takes the wisdom of Godly people to clear a path to help us see and remember the Truth.

  2. John 11:35

    Jesus wept. Sometimes I’ve been so discouraged and self absorbed in my pain that the only bible verse I can utter through my tears is John 11:35 Jesus wept. In context there were several reasons why He might have wept. In Jon Courson’s commentary he lists these possible reasons: Jesus is reminded that sin destroys; Jesus sees the unbelief around Him; Jesus knows He’s going to pull Lazarus out of Paradise; and also….Jesus saw their tears and felt thief pain and wept with them.
    Just knowing Jesus has wept makes me want to run into His loving arms.
    If only I weren’t so foolish. PEACE Laurie! He loves us and will comfort us. Nothing is too hard for God. Take His yoke…

  5. Laurie,
    I couldn’t wait to hear what you had to say, and I wasn’t disappointed. Your cure for broken heartedness of listening to praise, and sermons from great preachers is just the medicine that the Lord prescribes for us at times, and sometimes it’s just getting alone with Him and hearing His heart speak to ours through His Word like He did when we read I John 4 today. My spiritual Mom used to say that just like the mountain that looks ‘gone’ because it’s hidden in the clouds with fog, our brokenhearted circumstances can cause that same fog in our spiritual life, but that’s when we need to remember that the mountain (our Lord’s loving, Almighty Presence) is there, holding our heart when we cry. One day all clouds will gone. I think that is why He did weep when Martha and Mary were so broken hearted. He loved them so, but knew He had to bring this pain into their lives so that they could later see Him as He really is which is far better… He brings those who have seen the miracles to hold onto our faith until theirs is formed in them. Can’t wait till heaven, what a day that will be. I am so looking forward to meeting you, and sitting on the front porch with him and all His girls talking 🙂 love you, Debbie

  6. A few weeks ago, the bottom fell right out of my marriage, but God has given me such strength through His Word. I keep going back for more, because He continually proves to me that I can trust Him to provide for my spiritual needs. Feeling broken hearted? Try Colossians 3:1-2, Philippians 4:6-8, I Peter 2:1 and 4:16, Deuteronomy 32:39, Psalm 50:23. God loves you, and He will NEVER let you down!

  7. I really appreciate being able to sit down at my computer on Friday’s and hear what the Lord has spoken to you. I do not cross paths with many passionate believers during the week. Your message is water in the desert. I needed the encouragement to be in the Word more. Thanks for continuing your ministry.

  8. Thank you Laurie! Tears that slip gently down our cheeks brought about by broken hearts, is a wonderful reminder that we have remembered that our Lord has begun the healing of that broken heart already. Sometimes in groups someone will ask the question, “What Bible Character would you have liked to be?” I always think that I would love to have been walking down the road to the village of Emmaus – that seven mile trek from Jerusalem – with Jesus from the Scripture of Luke 24:27, where He is “Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” It could not get any better than that – Jesus telling the disciples the things concerning Himself, quoting from Scripture telling them everything they could ever possibly need to know, reminding them of what they already knew, and now they had more to share. And, then I think, “I can walk daily with Christ, and while I am not physically walking along a given road with Him, I am walking with Him in Spirit, nonetheless. He is just as present with me today as He was with them that day.” I know Jesus didn’t leave out a detail, and it is the detail that I don’t want to miss out on. He has healed many broken hearts for me. He was there
    through the death of three brothers, my mother and father, my husband of thirty-eight years, numerous relatives and friends. He was there when I’ve been betrayed by family members. He was there when I’ve been betrayed by fellow Christians in ministry. He was there when my heart broke when someone died, who had denounced Him. He was there when someone has broken my heart when I meant so well, and it was taken by them so wrong, and through it all I learned to trust Him even more. He was there when my heart broke when fellow Christians shunned disadvantaged people who were not like them because they had not had the same advantages in life. When I have observations like those just listed, I pray that God will forgive me if my observations appear judgmental in nature. May I always strive to not be a foolish woman! I’m preparing to teach “There is a Season” in September, and I can hardly wait to share God’s Truths as you have laid them out in this precious study, Laurie. It appears that as times get tougher, women are seeking God more. My prayer for this study is that what you are teaching – seeking God first, and loving Him most – is what we will do when it’s all said and done. I’ll keep you posted as we go. I thank God for the Old Testament prophecies and New Testament witnesses. May I never foolishly ignore the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you for these short Bible Studies on Front Porch Friday’s. They may be short in time, but they are profound to me in message. I recall your words throughout the weeks following.

  11. Thanks for this teaching, Laurie. There isn’t a woman alive that hasn’t had a broken heart. Your wisdom to remind us who we are in Christ and that he will never leave us is so vital for our spiritual walk. Still praying that I don’t find the foolish woman knocking at my door! Thank God for his presence and us being his children. Without him, there is no hope. May God continue to bless your ministry.

  12. Good morning Laurie………..I surely don’t have a clue what little black cloud be hovering around you but we KNOW He does. I will be praying for you as I can see it’s bringing you to tears…..I hate to see you so sad but a very wise & sweet lady told me just a few years ago, (when I had a BIG black cloud raining hail down on my heart), “It’s a season & remember hurting people HURT other people”. I was a direct recipient of that hurt & I was devastated UNTIL my mind, heart & spirit all clicked together & I RAN, (actually, I traveled on my knees),to my Jesus in fervent prayers to our Father God. What He showed me was this, I KNEW the road signs well…….. & I’d already been down the road. But satan tries to disguise things causing us to get confused IF we let him. So I began to pray for His Holy Spirit to fill up every empty crevice of my heart, mind & spirit & I laid the black cloud at His feet every single day…….Finally, the “Son” came on so brightly & my days began to brighten & the pain began to leave & my heart began to SOAR with His incredible LOVE…..Praying for Gods Grace & your Bright Son to shine on you…..starting today…In His Love…….Deb 1John 2:8

    I have hit a real low patch. I suffer from depression and constantly need to monitor my emotions. I am a single woman and want so much to let others closer but I need courage and am easily discouraged. I know that God loves me and cares for me but sometimes I need to be reminded he is with me. My cloud is going from gray to black at times, but after watching your video today I feel hope creeping in, I am off to read more of God’s word as I do most nights. God bless you for the hope and healing he does through you. You are such a blessing to me this Sunday as I look to find some hope and attempt to once more focus on the many blessings of our Lord and savior. May your cloud also become a shade lighter as God works through you.

    As I was trying to go to bed, I must have tossed and turned for about a good 30-40 minutes due to a heavy heart, and just feeling overwhelmed with life lately. I prayed and spilled out my feelings to the Lord and I thought to myself I need to log onto Priority Ministries and see what kind of a teaching Laurie has on Front Porch Friday.I’ve missed you over the summer,and for some reason have not been receiving your Front Porch Friday by email anymore. I could not believe how much your teaching was meant for me to hear. I just sat and listened as tears rolled down my face.I felt so much relief and a peace just came over me. Keep doing what your doing Laurie,God is using you in mighty ways! God bless you!

    • Lily, your sweet note brought tears to my eyes: 1) because I can so relate to your heavy heart, and 2) because I am so grateful the Lord led you to Front Porch Friday. How I praise Him for the peace, comfort, and encouragement He gave you through His Word. He is so sweet, isn’t He? One more thing: several women have been telling me lately that, like you, they aren’t receiving the blog posts/emails anymore. While I can’t explain why that’s happening, I do have a simple solution: Lily, just resubscribe to the blog.
