Yesterday we were singing and celebrating the resurrection.
The pews were packed.
The preacher was pumped.
Girl, yesterday we were soaring in the sweet spot of a spiritual high, weren’t we?
But today . . . it’s Monday.
And not just any ol’ Monday.
It’s the Monday after Easter.
Maybe it’s just melancholy me, but did yesterday’s high make today’s reality feel especially low? Ready for the remedy? Then, sister, take a look at what I read this morning:
Acts 1:8-11 (NLT)
1:8 [Jesus said] but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
10 As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them.
11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
Girl, we don’t have to start the week with a bad case of the after-Easter blues. No, precious sister, we can soar to the sweet spot and spiritual high of Easter any day of the week by:
1) Being filled with the Spirit. Because of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, we have the power of Easter within us.
2) Being His witnesses. Because of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, we have the truth of Easter to proclaim.
3) Being ready for His return. Because of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, we have the promise of Easter that He will return.
So don’t think of today as just another Monday. Instead, think of it as:
Easter: The After Party
And we don’t ever have to come down from Easter, precious sister, because He went up.
It’s Monday. So, c’mon. Let’s party!
Your party girl sister,
