No Front Porch Friday video today. I’m sick. Not sick-as-a-dog sick, just sick as in I can’t do a Front Porch Friday video without hacking and coughing and making you feel sick sick. It’s just a cold. But it’s bad enough that my beloved Bill has enacted a no-kissing law until my cold is history. Thank you for your pity.
Soooo, instead of a video, I’m going to share some good news with you today. Some really good news, and here it is: Today, my sweet mother is going to (drumroll): WALMART! OK, I know that last sentence may sound totally underwhelming, but I can assure you that it is NOT.
You see, last month I asked you to pray for my mother who has been suffering from a severe case of shingles and related complications for the past 6 months. And glory to God, you did (thank you, thank you). Well, last night, Mother called to let me know that she’s had two good days AND nights in a row. Plus, she’s beginning to regain her appetite. Girl, God is continuing to answer your prayers for my mother, and my grateful heart to the Lord and to you is soaring!
But there’s more: I had also asked you to pray for my Daddy who has been such a sweetheart and a trooper during Mother’s illness but has also been deeply disheartened and hurt to see her in so much pain. So yesterday, when Mother told Daddy that she thought she was feeling well enough to go to Walmart today – but that he would have to push the cart, of course – this is what he said: “Honey, even if you end up having to get into that cart and I have to push you, I am so happy!” Happy Daddy. More answered prayer!
So today, precious sister, as you go about your daily routine – driving to and from work, running errands, and doing your same-old-usual thing – I want you to know that because of your prayers and God’s power, my mother and daddy are enjoying a little slice of their same-old-usual-routine and their very best trip to Walmart EVER.
As for me, I’m still coughing. And I’m still hacking. And I’m still under that awful kissing ban. But I want you to know that I’m doing my same-old-usual routine today thanking God for you, smiling every time I think about my parents at Walmart, and praying, “Lord, don’t ever let me complain about having to go to Walmart again.”
Your hacking, coughing, grinning, and very grateful sister,
