First of all, thank you so much for praying for my mother. Hallelujah, I am excited to report that the Lord heard your prayers, precious sister, and I have some good news to share with you.
Monday, Mother went to an opthalmologist. As I told you in Monday’s post, she lost her vision in one eye recently (at first, they thought it may have been caused by one of the prescriptions she was taking for shingles). But after the doctor examined her on Monday, he said it was more likely caused by high blood pressure brought on by the pain she’s been experiencing from the shingles for the past five months (she’s never had high blood pressure until now).
Soooo, here is Good News Part I: The opthalmologist applied a prism to the lens of Mother’s glasses on Monday, and now she’s able to see much better. This was a huge answer to prayer that also provided a much-needed morale boost for her. She will wear the prism for a couple of weeks which should allow the bad eye to rest and, hopefully, heal. After Christmas, she’ll go back to the opthalmologist for a re-check. So, rejoice with me in this glorious news, and please continue to pray the Lord will heal her eye completely. PTL!
Now for Good News Part II: On Tuesday, Mother went to an infectious disease specialist because her shingles have not responded to the usual treatments AND because she has developed a new and different kind of rash around the “old” shingles. Mother said the doctor/specialist was wonderful. He did a thorough exam and took blood samples for testing. Results from those tests should enable them to move forward with new treatment for her shingles. She and my Daddy left that appointment greatly encouraged. So, rejoice with me in this good news, and please pray that: 1) the test results will come back soon; 2) new treatment will be effective; and 3) that God will heal her completely. PTL x 2!!
When I told Mother that so many of you were praying for her, she was deeply touched and so grateful. Hugs to all of you from her. Which brings me to Good News Part III: as I spoke to with her today, I could tell by the sound of her voice that her spirits are greatly improved — another result of your prayers and God’s grace. PTL x 3!!!
Precious sister, it’s true, it really is: “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous [woman] availeth much,” (James 5:16). Thank you, thank you for praying for my mother. Your prayers made a huge difference, and I am indebted to you. Please keep praying, and I’ll keep you posted as God does what He alone can do: heal the sick.
I love you!
